DIY or Don't Expo

Who’s ready to get creative and be inspired?!

So, I will be the first to admit to you that I’m not the craftiest person around. I’m very impatient, I don’t like messes, and honestly…I’m way pickier when I do things myself than I would be if someone else were doing it. Sound familiar? I do like to work on projects, though, and given the right instruction…it might actually turn out well for me.

That’s why I’m so excited for the DIY or Don’t Expo (Feb. 23. + 24)! I’m sure you’ve heard one of their radio spots or have seen one of their tv interviews, but just in case, I wanted to fill you in on what it’s all about! This event is a brand-new concept in the Des Moines area, and I can’t wait! It is a unique experience for anyone who loves to DIY AND for those who don’t! You will be able to register for and enjoy nearly 50 make-and-take workshops (priced individually and separate from entrance fee), as well as view live demonstrations, shop from several Iowa makers, and get to hear Clint Harp from the DIY Network speak! You can buy your tickets to the Expo itself HERE.

DIY or Don't Expo in Des Moines, IA February 23 & 24 2019

Not only that, but you can sign up for my Gallery Wall Workshop! I’m hosting 2 workshops during the Expo, one Saturday and on Sunday. There are only 20 spots per workshop, so be sure to sign up soon! You can click (HERE—SATURDAY and HERE--SUNDAY) to secure your spot! You’ll have the opportunity to learn all my tips + tricks for creating a unique and personal gallery wall in your home! I’ll have my interactive demo gallery wall there, so you’ll be able to see how I would set up a gallery wall, plus be able to play around with a design of your own! Each workshop participant will also get an exclusive 5”x7” gallery wall print.

I love everything about making a house pretty…and that looks different to everyone! I know you are going to be making and buying so many fun items at the DIY or Don’t Expo and I would love to be able to help you put some of those items together! That’s where the Gallery Wall Workshop comes in! I’m sure that you’ve been collecting lots of wall décor over the years and maybe haven’t found a way to put them all together or maybe the process is intimidating to you! Let me help take some of that pressure away and show you how you can create a statement gallery wall in your own home! This would be a great girls’ day and I know you and your friends would have a great time learning and creating! You can grab your tickets for the Gallery Wall Workshop HERE—SATURDAY and HERE--SUNDAY. I can’t wait to see you there!

Wanna know what else? I’m taking it back old school and am going to be an actual vendor at the Expo as well! A lot of you might not know this, but my dream of owning my own business started several years ago when I started thrifting a bunch of Pyrex and other vintage goodness. I would share my finds on Instagram and people went wild for it! I started a separate account for my treasures—calling it Rustopia. Gah…I still love that name so much! When Jason told me that he wasn’t down for setting up at shows every weekend, I had to find a different way to pursue my passion of all things home and décor. So, I turned Rustopia into Rustopia Consulting and started building the business I have today! I’ve since rebranded to H.Prall & Co., but my goals and “why” are still very much the same! I love helping people love their homes! It’s been 3.5 years since I started my decorating business and I am so happy I did! I do miss selling, though (and love junking even more), so I thought this would be a great opportunity to get back into it!

If you love all things crafty and home as much I do, you are not going to want to miss the DIY or Don’t Expo! Plus, it’s a perfect excuse to shake off that cabin fever we’re all having (can you say Winter needs to leave??)!

Happy creating!
