I feel bad even calling this a recipe, especially since there are so many different variations for how you can make it...depending on your taste. While the ingredients are obviously the stars of the show, I think this TREE-SHAPED SERVING BOARD makes it all even more fun for the holidays.
The first thing you'll need is a BOARD of some sort...bonus if it has a lip around the edge to help corral your chips and toppings. Then, all there is to do is layer things on! I'll share the ingredients I used, but honestly...you could do just about any combo that you can think up. While this post is not sponsored by Trader Joe's...it sure looks like it could be! All but one of my ingredients came from there. TJ's honestly has some of the best selections around for snacky foods. Aldi would be a close second for where I would grab the goods.
Once you have your board ready, you can pour your chips out onto it. I chose a kettle cooked chip because I love the crunch. You'll also want something to stand up to the other ingredients...and kettle cooked can do that! Tortilla chips would be good if you wanted to do a Mexican themed BOARD!
Next, I put some pieces of prosciutto all over the chips, kind of arranging them into little rosettes. Basically any kind of cured meat is going to be good on this: salami, pancetta, pastrami... I'm even thinking of a ham and cheese option with ranch dressing as the sauce-more on this in a second.
After the meat, I added some cheese. Brie...because brie and Tete de Moine Rosettes because they're pretty. You basically can't go wrong with cheese...unless you're lactose intolerant, in which case, maybe add more meat??
Once the meat and cheese are all nestled on top of the chips, it's time for a little extra crunch. I added chopped pistachios, but pretty much any nut would be good, including pine nuts, walnuts, or pecans...depending on the other toppings you're using. Once you have everything on the BOARD: chips, meat, cheese, and nuts, it's time for a sauce of some sort. I chose hot honey because it's one of my favorite things. The sweet and hot combo is unmatched and works perfectly with the meat and cheese.
I honestly love the concept of chipcuterie so much, it might be my new favorite way to serve up little snacky bites. You're basically cutting out the middle-man of different bowls and dishes and just loading it up with all the goodness straight away.
After I put this BOARD together, I immediately wished I'd added some pickles or chopped olives for some vinegary bite. I guess I'll have to put together another chipcuterie board. I'm sure no one would be disappointed!
